Acceptable Use Policy

Everything made here is intended to be read aloud to a small child at the end of the day. If something would be out of place in that moment, it is out of place on this site. The checks below run on your input the instant you type it and again on the server before any generation request is sent.

We will not generate, and our filters block, anything involving:

• Violence, weapons, injury, blood or death.
• Horror, dread, or imagery intended to frighten.
• Sexual or suggestive content of any kind.
• Alcohol, tobacco, vaping, drugs or gambling.
• Hateful, discriminatory or demeaning content about any group.
• Self-harm, or the encouragement of dangerous behaviour.

When a word triggers one of these checks, the form tells you which word it was and suggests a gentler direction, rather than silently refusing.

Characters, worlds, settings and names from existing books, films, television or games belong to the people who made them. You cannot use this service to produce a book starring them, and our filters block a long list of well-known names. Real trademarks and brand logos are blocked for the same reason.

Describe the idea instead. “A brave little mouse who is afraid of the dark” produces something genuinely yours, and usually something better.

We do not imitate the personal style of a named living artist or illustrator, and requests naming one are refused. The eight house styles on this site are our own, described by medium and technique — watercolour, crayon, cut paper — rather than by whose work they resemble.

This service will not produce anything that could pass for a real document, whether or not the intention is innocent. That includes:

• Passports, identity cards, driving licences, visas and birth certificates.
• Diplomas, qualifications and official certificates.
• Invoices, receipts, bank statements and contracts.
• Prescriptions, medical records and insurance documents.
• Tickets, boarding passes, banknotes and payment cards.
• Official seals, stamps and signatures.

There is no image upload anywhere on this site, so no photograph of anybody can be submitted. The hero's appearance comes only from the written description you choose — hair colour, hair style, outfit, companion.

We do not generate likenesses of real, identifiable people, public figures or celebrities, and we do not do anything resembling a face swap.

Only make a book about a child if you are their parent or guardian, or you have their parent or guardian's permission. You confirm this on the form before the book is written. Making a book about somebody else's child without permission is a breach of this policy.

• As you type: the name field, the likes field and the notes field are checked live, and the page tells you what is wrong before you can submit.
• Before generation: the server runs the same checks again on the complete brief and refuses the request if anything fails.
• When you edit: rewritten page text is re-checked before illustrations are made.
• After the fact: we may remove content and suspend accounts that repeatedly attempt to defeat these checks.

This service is available to adults internationally, but it is not available where its use would be unlawful, and it is not available to anyone on an applicable sanctions list. You are responsible for complying with the laws of the country you use it from. Books you make and export remain subject to the copyright and consumer law of your own jurisdiction.
